CURRENT PROJECT - SOUND & SCULPTURE
MIND OF A PETROL HEAD
The sound will be recorded from the perspective of a mechanic/car enthusiast. This symphony will contain all the sounds that would be heard whilst working with cars, or whilst driving a car.
The soundscape will be comprised of sounds that occur within a mechanics workshop and similar sounds that are created by the cars that are being worked on. Specific sounds may include engine revving, airguns, banging, and electrical tools, sounds such as indicators, and genera workshop chatter. The soundscape is used to tell a story, which in this case is the life of a car in a workshop from needing to be fixed to leaving the garage and driving away, all of which is supposedly from the point of view of a mechanic (Petrol Head), and the sounds that encompass their day in their working environment.
For the installation piece, I will be utilising car parts, specifically a wiring loom and tire. The wiring loom has an animalistic nature to is so, the sculpture will be designed in a way to make it look monster-like. As the wiring loom is what brings life to a car, I want to make the sculpture come to life hence the soundscape, additionally to make the sculpture come to life an array of flashing lights will be added, so that in their intermittent flashing it will show life within the object. The tyre will be at the base of the art piece acting as the grounding tool, within the tyre there will be speakers in which the soundscape will be played. To hang the wiring loom from the ceiling, clear fishing wire and hooks will be used to so not to distract from the piece itself.

THE HORRORS OF BLIND PROSECUTION
An experimental sound piece, based on Shirley Jackson's ‘’The Lottery’’, a short
horror story, banned for its controversial depiction of small-town tradition
specifically in this case ‘a lottery’ where a town selects one of its citizens is selected
by chance and the consequence of being selected is not revealed till the end (the
chosen is stoned to death). The aim is to show the progression of light to dark
present in the story.
